School Board Meetings Summary, August 2024

Hey there, Zachary Community! Here's a quick recap of our recent August 2024 meetings:

August 2024 Updates/Highlights

Resources & Work Session:

• We did not hold a resources meeting and instead welcomed our newest Zachary teachers with a meet and greet. In our work session, Mr. Musso led a discussion on adjusting the millage rates for 2024. We also continued the discussion on adding navy blue pants as an option to the school uniform policy based on survey feedback from community members, teachers, and parents.

Public Hearing Meeting:

• We held a public hearing to give everyone a chance to respond to the new millage adjustment proposals.

Regular Board Meeting:

• Mr. Necaise kicked off our regular board meeting with updates on the teacher convocation and preparations for the return of our students.

• We're planning to begin the strategic planning process, with Dr. Lathon and Dr. Young as representatives for the school board.

• The Bank of Zachary's Bronco branch is now open in ZHS! We've postponed the demographic study presentation until September.

• We also discussed initial outcomes for Zachary schools for the 2023-2024 test results and legislative changes to accountability structures, which now include DIBELS testing.

• The board approved the millage rate adjustments and voted to add navy blue pants to the school uniform policy for the 2025-2026 school year.

• Due to time constraints, Dr. Young and Dr. London will share their learnings from the Southern Leadership Conference for the September 2024 meeting.
