September & October Meeting Updates
SEPTEMBER HIGHLIGHTS
In September, we had productive meetings.
Resources Committee Meeting:
Reviewed the financial report presented by Mr. Musso.
Work Session:
Discussed the uninsured and underinsured motorist bodily injury resolution, changes to the 2024-2025 Pupil Progression Plan, and reviewed instructional materials.
Regular Meeting:
Approved multiple policies (see policy update), including qualifications for school board members, notification of meetings, and more.
Policy Committee Meeting:
Considered board member compensation adjustments
Discussed social media policy updates.
OCTOBER HIGHLIGHTS
In October, we continued our efforts:
Resources Committee & Work Session Meeting:
Reviewed the financial report, approved 2025 board meeting dates, updated special education report card features, revised the 2024-2025 salary schedule, and discussed public bids for the Zachary High School track resurfacing.
Regular Meeting:
Provides superintendent's updates, presentation on district safety, approved 2025 school board meeting dates, special education report card updates, revised salary schedule, and more.
Academic Committee Meeting:
Discussed preliminary outcomes for the previous school year, academic disparities, student mobility, and changes to the accountability system.
We have been busy! Here is a summary of what we've been up to these last two months.
April & May 2024 Updates/Highlights
Resource Meetings:
Mr. Musso presented budget updates in the financial reports.
Work Sessions:
Dr. Lathon introduced a segment for board members to share insights from conferences, with recent discussions on the LSBA Capitol Conference. Votes are scheduled for June 18th on the student handbook and Landscaping Service Contract updates.
Regular Board Meeting:
Administrative contracts were approved, student achievements recognized, and the school lunch hero proclamation shared. The board approved the student fees policy and recognized Teacher Appreciation Week and two retirees. The ‘24-’25 school year budget will be advertised for public viewing, and support for the districtwide orchestra program was advocated.
Superintendent/District Updates:
Districtwide testing is almost complete, with a $120,000 grant received for strategic planning. The last full week of school is approaching, with early dismissal and Senior Graduation dates announced. Summer Camp details and Virtual Learning Information for interested parents are available on the district site.
Special Meetings:
The Policy Meeting addressed potential student handbook updates, while the Budget Meeting focused on planning for the upcoming school year.
